The future of legal advice

  • Posted on

Digital technology is helping law firms like Pearson Solicitors in Oldham engage with clients and enabling us to help people all over the UK without the need for time consuming travel to offices, it also means we are able to observe all social distancing guidelines.

Digital meeting platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype, WhatsApp and Facetime have allowed the business to continue during the lockdown and more and more we find clients are also increasingly happy to meet without having to come into our offices.

This echoes a nationwide survey of law firms.  The recent IRN Research Legal Services Market Report found that 71% of consumers now use digital technology for legal consultations.

Clients are also more ready to search nationally for their lawyer according to the research, whether this is price, review, anonymity or recommendation driven.

Of course, we know that some clients will still want to meet face-to-face, and that is fine. Some matters require a more personal touch, either way, we make things work for our clients.

Commenting on the move towards more digital meetings, Head of Commercial Litigation, Christopher Burke, said: “The new digital options help us to meet the needs of all of our clients. Whether you want to meet in person, speak over the phone, or chat over Zoom, we’re here to offer sensible and effective legal advice for you, your family, and your business, whatever your needs.

“Our commercial clients are busy running businesses and feel comfortable within this virtual environment and I am sure this trend is set to rise.  We take instructions from all over the UK so it’s a win win for everyone,” he added.

Legal Services Research

The IRN Research Legal Services Market Report also highlighted;

  • 59% of people would now engage a law firm anywhere in the country (up 13% from 2019)
  • Web search-engines were used by 25% of consumers (up from 17% in 2019)
  • 38% of clients trust recommendations from family and friends

The pandemic has affected all of us, whilst the ways we are all communicating may be changing, customers still look for the most reliable law firms and professional solicitors.  Studies found that more than a quarter of consumers have gone back to a law firm or solicitor they have used before and that is a trend Pearson Solicitors echo - with a large percentage of clients coming back to us or recommending us to friends and relatives.

What our clients say about us

Here’s what they have to say about us:

  • “Professional and efficient, a very good experience and I would recommend.”
  • “I have used Pearson for many years and everyone I deal with is friendly and helpful.”
  • “Complicated legal stuff explained in a way I understood, Excellent.”

According to the survey we trust our friends, family and colleagues and so our recommendations have grown over the past year.
