Pearson Solicitors joins the fight to beat Cancer

Cancer affects one in two of us and at Pearson it is something which has affected our work family all too often, so for the next couple of years our charitable fundraising will be directed towards Cancer Research UK.

Our chosen charity is always nominated by our staff and having a charity of the year helps to engage us all in a wide range of activities and really galvanises a team mentality.

In the past, we have supported Dr Kershaw’s Hospice, Maggie’s Cancer Care and more recently the Francis House Children’s Hospice.  By having a chosen charity we can funnel all our fund-raising efforts into one place and can really make a difference.

“Already our staff have got involved, signed up for runs and hikes and for those who don’t want to get pretty muddy or physical there are a number of other activities.  One team member has been selling knitted ‘positive’ desk veg, another has done a Malaysian curry club and already they have raised over £500,” said PR Manager, Suzanne Wright, who is co-ordinating the charitable giving.”

“We have also set up donation stations in offices to turn unwanted items into cash via the cancer research shops, so every time staff have a clear out they can support our charity at the same time and this is such a quick win, 25 bags funds a lab technician for a week, 75 bags nine cancer nurses for a day and 300 bags funds clinical trials.”

On our website, we have a link to our Pearson Solicitors team page which is a great way to collectively see donations for multiple fundraising activities. The aim is for this page to act as an online hub for all future fundraising and for staff to log their events and hopefully keep up to date on the various challenges they can help with.

“Giving is not just about making a donation, it’s about making a difference and I’m sure together over the next 24 months we’ll make a real difference and have some fun together at the same time,” said Suzanne.
