Stepping out for Cancer
Four ladies from our Ashton office have been stepping out each day in order to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.
Sue Shears, Lisa Anderson, Jacqui White and Denise Curzon have committed to walking 10 000 steps a day as part of the Walking all over Cancer campaign.
Jacqui White said, “We’ve had fun walking out at lunch time, going to classes and meeting at the weekends to ensure we complete the daily challenge. It’s made us work out each day and be mindful of our own health. As a group we have all seen first-hand the devastating effects a cancer diagnosis can have and have wanted to support the wonderful work charities such as Cancer Research UK do in the fight against the disease. March has not been the best month, weather-wise, to take on this challenge but we have encouraged each other and have always had it in the forefront of our minds that getting a bit cold and wet is nothing compared to the pain and heart ache thousands of people experience every day when they are told they have cancer.
Cancer survival rates have doubled over the past 40 years. Consistent progress is being made but improvements to technology and ground-breaking work offer new opportunities to find different ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer and improve survival rates even further. Help Cancer Research UK improve results even faster.
The ladies only have a few days left to reach their target. If you’d like to support them and donate to Cancer Research UK please use this link.
