Failsworth Solicitors support local school bus project
Failsworth law firm Pearson Solicitors is delighted to support a local community project at South Failsworth Primary School that will benefit the children for years to come.
South Failsworth Primary School have officially opened their school bus which has been lovingly named ‘The Learning Lounge’ will see pupils on board when they return after the summer holidays.
The bus has been declared open by Madam Mayor of Oldham, Councillor Elaine Garry at a recent ceremony attended by pupils, parents, PTA members and local businesses.
After securing a bid with Transport for Greater Manchester (TfgM) to win one of a number of yellow school buses which were due to be decommissioned, the school embarked upon a campaign to raise awareness about the project by posting news about their successful bid on social media.
The school’s ultimate aim of having the bus on site as a permanent fixture in the junior playground was to house a reading hub, craft area and a sensory zone, all of which have been achieved.
Failsworth born Joanne Ormston, Director and Practice Manager at Pearson Solicitors and Financial Advisers who have offices in Failsworth, Hollinwood and Oldham said:
“Staff members who live in Failsworth spotted the ‘call for help’ on social media and raised it internally to see if we could support the school project. Part of our ethos is to support the local community and as someone who has a fond association with Failsworth, it was immediately agreed that we would get behind this project and support the school in any way we can.”
“We were able donate £1000 to help them on their way and staff members got involved by donating over 150 books and craft items to help kit out the bus.”
“Failsworth has such a strong community spirit, and this was demonstrated by people coming together to get the project to completion which included pupils, parents, Oldham Council and local businesses such as Howdens, Arnold Clarke, The Sign Box and DSD Electrical to name but a few and we are delighted to have played our part in this worthwhile project.”
Assistant Headteacher Louise Sidaway and PTA member Joanne Winward have been in constant contact with Pearson Solicitor with updates and photographs as to the various stages of the bus project.
“We have formed a close relationship with Pearson since they came on board to help with the project and in addition to the donation, staff members have been involved by donating items for the bus, boosting our campaign awareness on social media and volunteering at our Summer Fayre. The donation helped us enormously with the renovation of the school bus. What a wonderful community we have!”
“The bus project supports our mission statement 'Inspiring and creating lifelong learners.' We aim to develop a love of learning in our pupils and foster a fascination of learning about themselves, others and the world around them. Our unique curriculum 'Our World' provides the pupils at South Failsworth Primary School with the opportunity to do just that. We place great emphasis on reading throughout our curriculum so that our pupils become lifelong readers and read for pleasure.”
“Huge thanks again to all those involved, it really has been a labour of love.” acknowledged Louise Sidaway.
