It’s Time to Get Moving House Again

It’s been a tough few months for everyone, but if you were about to move from a second floor flat to a house with a garden and it was postponed in lockdown it may have been a frustrating few months.

Now the property market is back in business and we are turning exchange and completions around in record times. Demand is returning and people are wanting to get their house moves up and running again.

“There was a surge of activity as soon as the Prime Minister allowed estate agents to get back to work and I have clients calling with a keen desire to get moving again. The team at Pearson have been working continually behind the scenes during lockdown so we were ready to act and are now sorting exchange and completion out in record times,” said Head of Residential Property, Victoria Marshall.

A recent survey by industry experts indicates demand is returning and registrations for property sales have increased by 76% in just the last week of May and over a 4 week period were up by 89%. In the same time period sales enquiries have also increased by 38%.

“As conveyancing solicitors we are being tasked by many purchasers to get a fast exchange and completion, this may be with the threat of further lockdowns coming and people wanting to get their property moves completed. Of course houses with even the tiniest bit of outside space are now extremely popular,” she added.

It is estimated that more than 450 house moves have been put on hold due to the pandemic.

There is new normal in the world of property with virtual viewings more popular and social distancing rules being applied – it’s easy to let the agent conduct the viewing whilst you wait outside and of course if a potential buyer is exhibiting any corona symptoms it’s advisable to defer the viewing.

“Many people have spent hours in lockdown pouring over properties online or doing diy and getting their home ready for a potential move, so now is the time to put that planning in action with estate agents and removal men back in business - only this week clients have been pushing to exchange so I suspect it’s going to be a busy summer as lockdown eases,” added Victoria.
